Chardham Yatra 2026: 9 Nights 10 Days Itinerary & Travel Guide

Chardham Yatra 2026 takes you to four sacred places in Uttarakhand: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. A 10-day trip through the mountains needs proper planning, especially when it comes to road journeys, temple visits, and overnight stays. Before leaving, it helps to know which route to follow, how much time each stop may take, and what to carry for the journey.

At tourio.in, we manage the cars, hotels, and local permits so you can focus on the pilgrimage. Here is how our 9 nights 10 days tour runs on the ground.

Our cab picks you up at Haridwar in the morning. You drive up toward Barkot, passing through Mussoorie along the way. If traffic is light, you can stop at Kempty Falls for a short break. The drive takes 6 to 7 hours. In Barkot, check in, eat dinner, and get to sleep early.

Drive to Jankichatti early in the morning. This is where the 6 km climb up to Yamunotri starts. You can walk, pay for a pony, or hire a doli. At the top, visit the temple, cook rice in the hot springs at Surya Kund, and start walking back down. Meet our cab at Jankichatti and head back to Barkot for the night.

After breakfast, drive along the river to Uttarkashi. It is a shorter drive, taking about 4 hours. Once you check into your hotel, spend the late afternoon visiting the old Vishwanath Temple right in town.

Leave early for Gangotri. The route goes through Harsil Valley, famous for apple orchards and views of the river. Visit Gangotri Temple, spend some time by the riverbank, and drive back down to Uttarkashi before dark.

This is a full day in the car as you cross from the Bhagirathi Valley over to the Mandakini Valley. You reach Guptkashi by late afternoon. Use the evening to pack a light bag for Kedarnath and check your registration papers.

Drive to Gaurikund and start the 16 km hike up to Kedarnath. If you booked a helicopter through tourio.in, our cab drops you directly at the helipad in Sersi or Phata. Reach Kedarnath by afternoon, leave your bags at the guesthouse, and join the crowd outside the temple for evening Aarti.

Get in line early for morning Darshan inside the shrine. Walk back down to Gaurikund afterward. Our driver meets you at the parking stand and takes you back to your hotel in Guptkashi for a shower and food.

Drive to Badrinath via Joshimath. Once you arrive, take a quick bath in the hot water at Tapt Kund before heading into Badrinath Temple. Stay overnight in town.

In the morning, drive 3 km to Mana Village, the last Indian village before the border. Walk over to see Vyas Gufa and the spot where the Saraswati River flows out from the rocks. Afterward, drive downhill to Rudraprayag for the night.

Drive back toward Haridwar, passing through Rishikesh on the way. Stop near Laxman Jhula to stretch your legs if you want. Our driver drops you at the Haridwar railway station or your hotel, wrapping up the trip.

  • Registration: You must register on the official Uttarakhand portal before starting the trip.
  • Walking Stamina: The walks to Yamunotri and Kedarnath are steep. Start taking 45-minute daily walks a month before you leave.

1. When should I plan my Chardham trip in 2026?

May, June, September, and October are your best options. Skip July and August completely. Monsoons in the mountains mean landslips, shooting stones, and roads getting shut down for hours.

2. Is the walking part hard for Yamunotri and Kedarnath?

Yamunotri is a 6 km climb from Jankichatti. Kedarnath is a tough 16 km hike up from Gaurikund. If your legs or heart cannot take that push, hire a horse, take a doli, or ask tourio.in to get you helicopter seats.

3. Is government registration really necessary?

Yes, you cannot skip it. Fill your details on the Uttarakhand state portal before you leave. You get a registration paper with a QR code that police check at different road stops.

4. Can my elderly parents handle this 10-day tour?

Yes, but get a fitness check from your local doctor first. The air gets thin at high altitude and cold winds trigger coughs and blood pressure shifts. Keep their routine medicines in your handbag and go slow on the climbs.

5. How far ahead do I need to book with tourio.in?

Book 2 to 3 months early minimum. Hotel beds in small towns like Barkot and Kedarnath run out fast in May and June, and helicopter passes get taken in minutes once windows open.
