Most group chats end up in the exact same place: someone drops a “we should go to Rishikesh” message, everyone says yes, and then no one actually books anything because sorting out tents, raft slots, and food for eight people is a nightmare. That’s pretty much why we started tourio.in. We build simple weekend packages for friend groups, college squads, and work teams who want to hit the rapids without spending four days on phone calls trying to organize it.
How the Weekend Goes Down
Saturday: Get in, Unwind, Bonfire
Try to hit camp by around noon. We set up our camps near the river away from the noisy main road traffic, so as soon as you toss your bags in your tent, you’re basically on holiday. After a quick lunch at the camp dining area, you’ve got the whole afternoon open. Most people just head straight down to the water, kick a football around, or sit on the sand with a chai. Once the sun drops and it gets chilly, we get the bonfire going, put on some music, and bring out hot snacks before dinner.
Sunday: The Rafting Run
Eat a quick breakfast, pack your stuff, and head up to the raft launch site in Shivpuri. Your guide will fit you with helmets and life jackets and run through how to paddle together. The 16 km run down to NIM Beach takes about two to three hours depending on how fast the water is moving. You’ll hit the big rapids like Roller Coaster and Golf Course—which usually gets everyone soaked within ten minutes.
Near the end of the run, the water slows down, and you can jump off the cliff spot into the river or just float beside the boat. We finish up near Laxman Jhula by early afternoon, so you have plenty of time to grab lunch in town and head back home before nightfall.

FAQs:
1. Can I go rafting if I can’t swim?
Yes. You’ll be wearing a life jacket and a helmet the whole time on the water. If you fall out, the jacket pops you right back up to the surface. Your guide also gives a safety talk on shore before anyone steps into the boat.
2. How old do you have to be for the 16 km Shivpuri run?
The local river office sets the limit from 14 to 55 years for Shivpuri. If you’re coming with younger kids or older parents, they can hang back at the campsite or do the easy 9 km run from Brahmpuri.
3. What should I wear on the boat?
Wear quick-dry shorts, a light t-shirt, and floaters or sandals with back straps so you don’t lose them in the river. Skip jeans and heavy cotton—they get heavy when wet. Bring a clean change of clothes and sneakers for the camp later.
4. How early should we book on tourio.in?
Book about 1 to 2 weeks early if you can, especially for weekend slots. Camp spots and morning raft permits sell out fast between March and June, and again from October to November.
5. What are the camp tents and toilets like?
You get pitched tents with real mattresses, clean sheets, and pillows. You won’t be roughing it in the wild—the campsite has clean, tiled washrooms with running water right near the tent area.
6. When does rafting shut down for the rains?
Rafting closes completely in July and August because of the monsoon floods and heavy river currents. The camps and river runs open back up around mid-September and stay open until late June.
7. Where do I keep my phone and car keys while rafting?
Leave your bags, phone, and wallet locked in your car or at camp. The raft captain carries a small waterproof bag on the boat where you can tuck in your car keys or any medicine you need.
8. Do you give discounts for large groups on tourio.in?
Yes. If you’re bringing 6 or more people, drop us a line on tourio.in. We cut down the per-head cost for groups and can customize your plan if you want luxury cottages or the longer 26 km Marine Drive run.
